1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

This peice celebrates being called into a royal priesthood, a chosen people of God, with a ministry of interceding. I did a study in the Old Testament (Exodus) on the Tabernacle, and used a lot of symbolism referencing the Priest who represented believers before God. There were specifically designed garments that he wore including a blue robe, with blue, scarlet and purple pomegranates sewn at the hem of the robe with gold thread,. In Bible Dictionaries and Renaissance Christian art, pomegranates often symbolize Christ’s death and the colors have significant meanings: blue-heaven; scarlet-salvation; purple-Kingship; white-righteousness and old the holiness of God. The broken scarlet pomegranate emphasized Christ’s death.

In the Old Testament only the Priest could enter the Holy of Holies; the Israelites were never able to personally experience that privilege. But because Christ’s death tore away the barrier between God and man, I have the hope and joy of having direct access to God with no human mediator. So in this piece I celebrated the dismantled priestly garments, loosing the pomegranates from the gold thread, making the Old Testament garment and requirement obsolete and rejoicing that I am a believer-priest. I thought the pomegranates looked like they were dancing. And, it made me feel like dancing, too!
