My creative
process translates ancient sacred truths into a contemporary visual
language. These watercolor renderings are often mixed with torn paper,
gouache, embossing or stitched thread. The stitching adds texture and
allows me to intimately handle my work as it evolves. These techniques
manifest a hand-made effect, allowing me to remember the earthiness
of the African culture where I once lived. The final expression draws
the viewer into my contemplation, giving way to reflection and wonder.
